SSS Unemployment Benefit Calculator
The SSS unemployment benefit is 50% of your average monthly salary credit for 2 months, paid once as a lump sum (RA 11199, Sec. 14-B) — at most ₱20,000.00 because the MSC counts only up to ₱20,000.00. You must be not over 60, have at least 36 contributions with 12 in the last 18 months, and have been separated involuntarily; one claim every 3 years. A ₱20,000 salary gives ₱20,000.00.

Eligibility Under Section 14-B
- Not over 60 years old at the time of involuntary separation.
- At least 36 monthly contributions, 12 of them in the 18-month period immediately before the separation.
- Involuntary unemployment: authorized causes under the Labor Code (labor-saving devices, redundancy, retrenchment, closure, disease) and other involuntary separations certified by DOLE — not resignation or dismissal for just cause.
- Claimable once every 3 years; if another compensable contingency overlaps, only the higher benefit is paid.
How to Claim
- Get the DOLE Certification of Involuntary Separation from the DOLE Field or Regional Office covering your employer, bringing your Notice of Termination.
- Log in to My.SSS, file the Unemployment Benefit application under E-Services and upload the certification and notice; make sure a disbursement account is enrolled.
- File within one year of separation. If you were separated for an authorized cause you are also owed separation pay and your final pay from the employer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the SSS unemployment benefit?
50% of your average monthly salary credit, paid for 2 months as a one-time lump sum (RA 11199, Sec. 14-B). With the MSC counted up to ₱20,000.00, the maximum is ₱10,000.00 × 2 = ₱20,000.00. A ₱20,000 salary gives ₱10,000.00 a month, ₱20,000.00 in total.
Who qualifies for the SSS unemployment benefit?
A member not over 60 years old with at least 36 posted monthly contributions, 12 of them within the 18 months before the involuntary separation, who was separated for an authorized cause (installation of labor-saving devices, redundancy, retrenchment, closure, disease) or other involuntary reasons recognised by SSS and DOLE — not resignation, not termination for just cause. It can be claimed once every 3 years.
What documents do I need?
A DOLE Certification of Involuntary Separation from the DOLE Regional or Field Office where the employer is located (or the establishment report your employer filed), your Notice of Termination from the employer, and a valid ID. File through My.SSS within one year of the separation date; payment goes to your enrolled disbursement account.
Is the unemployment benefit taxable, and does it affect my other SSS benefits?
It is an SSS benefit, not income from employment, so it is not subject to withholding tax. It does not reduce your future retirement pension; but if two contingencies overlap (for example sickness and unemployment), only the higher benefit is paid (Sec. 14-B).
